This Organic Wholemeal Spelt flour is milled from the ancient wheat grain. It has a pleasant, slightly sweet and nutty flavour and is perfect for baking bread, cookies, muffins. Spelt has high water solubility, so it's nutrients are easily absorbed by the body and contains more protein, fats and crude fibre than most other wheat flours.
Spelt flour does require a little less liquid than wheat flour so make sure to note this down when using spelt flour in the kitchen. As spelt flour is a plain flour rather than a self-raising flour, it will be necessary to include a raising agent when cooking with it, such as yeast or baking powder.
